June 7 Keeebeck

Saturday morning we pulled out of Yogi Bear and Booboo country and first made a stop in Heartland where their claim to fame is the longest covered bridge in the world at 1282 feet long. A new bridge has replaced it but many locals still use the covered one. I was eyeing the height opening as to whether to go through (the manager at the RV park said I could) but I saw some cross members inside and decided not to.
As we crossed the border into Keebeck, one thing became apparently clear: NO English anywhere!! This is a pet peeve with me; you're part of Canada, an English speaking country; the rest of Canada is forced to be bilingual?? Anyways, good thing Caroline had 4 years of French!
The highway as we entered Keebeck was awesome; bro Casey warned me about the roads here but I just snickered as the new freeway was smooth as a baby's buttsky. For about 15 KM's. Then his words came to light. Really strange bumping though; seems every 5 feet a small ridge across the road; it was like driving on a gravel road but with small potholes with a ratatatat bumping. But it is hit and miss; lots of stretches with good, then a stretch of bad.
We had called ahead this time at an RV park in Levis, a small town just outside of Keebeck City. This was the closest park to Keebeck. Very friendly couple, the wife was having great difficulty with English, kept apologizing and said her "husbeeend is oon mineeet away".
We wanted to explore a few things, what to see, where to go; the downtown is only 20 minutes across the bridge. We found the ERQ Church for Sunday, we then headed around town to an island in the St Lawrence called Ile d'Orleans, a nice country side place with farms and high end homes which faced the river. We drove by and took some pics of the Montmorency Falls; these falls are claimed to be 90' higher than Niagara.
We were getting hungry so we put in the gps 2 restaurants in Levis; the first one didn't work and we ended up at a newer pub by the ferry dock. The menu was all in French; we ended up with a waiter who could speak English and explain and ordered a seafood platter and tartar du samon; a bottle of wine made a wonderful dinner in the sunshine on the deck. A good day.
another quaint little town; lots of history out East

longest covered bridge in the world

since there were no height signs I decided not

  Keebeck, no English signs here!!

our first glimpse of the mighty St Lawrence. One stretch all we saw was sand; it is a tidal river and obviously the tide was out

town of Levis, reminded us of Europe
