10,000 KM point at Whaleyville!

We left Richmond (not BC) this morning on our way to the East coast of Maryland, a place called Whaleyville!. We planned a route so as not to get too close to Baltimore with the unrest there. We did run into some slow traffic though. We pulled into the fortwhaley.com campsite, certainly not as busy as yesterdays park; but being off the beaten path (I95) we are seeing more sparse parks as this is off season from here on in.
We set up in 5 minutes! I should point out we each have our jobs; as soon as I get the two front jacks off the hitch of the truck, Caroline goes into attack mode! Her job is to hit the 6 point levelling botton, then hit the 3 buttons to get the slides out; she also pulls out the carpet and set up the chairs and table; all ready for our glass of wine once I'm done. I get my rubber gloves on and hook up the sewer and water lines (oh and the cable line :)) I also had my coat on as the temperature was a lot cooler as the East coast has a cold front; it was 9 degrees when we set up! brrrr!! The forecast for tomorrow and moving forward next week is high 70's and 80's :).
Once settled we went exploring first to Berlin, a small quaint town close by. It was really too cold to walk around so we drove verrrry slooooowly through town, creating rush hour traffic in downtown Berlin and took pictures from the truck! Then we headed to the beach, Ocean City. And it really is a city! We were amazed at he number of highrise hotels and the sheer number of hotels and restaurants. This is a classic East coast tourism trap! Nothing but hotels, restaurants and putt putt parks! I get the feeling the American dream is to go to the East coast beach and play putt putt. We walked the very beautiful boardwalk, took some pictures, then drove the rest of the strip. After gassing up the (large) tanks, we went "home" for dinner; some excellent Costco crabcakes, some left over potatoes and sausage from a restaurant the other night, and salad. A good day.
We just turned 10,000 KM's since we left Palm Springs March 23rd (not 9000 as I mentioned yesterday). We've actually done 14,000 since first leaving Langley to Palm Springs
bridge too far! cant believe the length of bridges in the USA. Seems every island has a bridge versus ferries

blow this picture up Design Lighting staff; look closely at the fixture hanging in the restaurant window!!!

  1. I recognize the wine glass light fixture! It must be neat for you to see it in action, or is that a lighting store?
