Yesterday we left Boise off to Salt Lake City. Now we've had some flat prairie driving on our first part of our trip but this was the loneliest stretch so far. I mean there is NOTHING between these two cities. Oh yes we saw the odd farm scattered here and there but wow this was out in the middle of nowhere. The good thing was the weather was nice and sunny with 16-17 degrees, perfect for driving. Even the rest stops were exciting as we saw more civilisation! We made it into Kaysville just North of the city. This park is designed for kids, reminded us a bit of Jellystone park in New Brunswick. At least they don't have megaphones going off every 15 minutes announcing the next wagon ride!!
Today (Tuesday) we slept in till 9, first time in a while for both although Caroline still isn't sleeping that well. Takes her a while to get used to a different bed.
We headed to the Mormon Tabernacle facility. We first checked out the ancestor building. The people are very friendly and showed us how to access information which we can do from our own computers. We couldn't find any parents but we just need to learn how to work the site better. We then walked over to the tabernacle as we knew there was an organ recital at noon. We got to speaking with one of the "missionary" ladies out front before the doors opened. We had a few questions about their book of Mormon and quoted the text about not adding or subtracting from scripture. She didn't have an answer. We went inside took some pictures before the performance (none can be done during) and boy were we treated to a spectacular concert for free! This organ has 11,623 pipes, 206 ranks, and five manuals (rows of keys). As I love organ music, this was a real treat hearing the sound from this magnificent instrument. The organist was Andrew Unsworth, a younger 40'sh gent, an organist for the Mormon tabernacle choir for 8 years. I didn't hear one mistake and apparently he's on you tube, www.youtube.com/watch?b=i2hxi2BoB5s . The first piece was a famous wedding march called The Prince of Denmark's March; im sure many a bride has walked the aisle to this piece. The highlight of this part of our trip. Tomorrow off to Bryce and Zion canyons. A good day.
if you look closely you'll see what elevation we're at. it was interesting as I really didn't notice the slow climb from Boise
the RV park has very narrow roads and tight spots. I already spoke to my neighbor on my right, if his truck is parked in front of his 5th wheel I cant get out! I may have to wake him up tomorrow :)
Crazy how tight they pack you in when there is so much room around!!
